Idea and vision

The world is running out of water. Demand for water continues to grow a staggering 60% every decade for the past fifty years, and supply is now hitting a brick wall: Within twelve years, over two thirds of the world is expected to experience shortage of water.
Such water shortage has far reaching and imminent implications, since over 40% of the world’s food is provided by irrigated agriculture.

Varigate’s concept is simple. Land is not homogeneous, and hence water absorption and its availability to plants varies greatly across a field. Current irrigation systems waste a lot of water because they water fields evenly.
Our uniqueness and focus is on ‘listening to the ground’, and providing each part of a field exactly the right amount of water that it needs, at any given time.

Varigate is the world's most advanced irrigation software service, delivering dramatic water cost savings and increased crop & dairy yield.

Our service saves an impressive 10-20% of the water used in irrigation of large fields, by real-time analysis of these differences and applying different amounts of water to different parts of a field accordingly. Implementation is straightforward. The farmer downloads our mobile app. Simply places three sensors we provide in the ground, guided by the app. And… that’s it! Our system does the rest.

The wireless sensors send their readings to our cloud. In the cloud, our patent-pending pattern-recognition analysis methodology, and revolutionary algorithms and software thoroughly analyze the field, its soil structure and its current condition, to determine the right amount of water each part of the field needs. Our system automatically instructs the irrigation system to irrigate accordingly.
And the farmer may view the irrigation maps and status on his mobile, and with five clicks or less, may modify it as needed
